Baby Lia and family | Denver newborn photography

Back in June, the lovely and pregnant Melissa answered my call for maternity model. Beautiful, smart, laid back, Melissa was a joy to photograph at her Stapleton, Colorado home–she had such a cute bump! Her husband Brian and toddler son Ben joined in on a few photos too. I love making maternity sessions a family affair whenever I can because to me, the portraits to be treasured show the relationships, not just the person.

Right on time, little Lia was born, and I had the pleasure of making her newborn portraits in my new studio–Lia is my first in-studio baby! Melissa brought Ben and Brian along with the hopes of getting a good family photo. Ben watched DVDs and horsed around with his dad while I got some sweet shots of Lia, and then we put the family in front of my backdrop for a few quick shots. In the end, I took Ben out to splash in puddles in his Thomas the Train rainboots while mom and dad got Lia ready for our chilly October day, and I got lucky with a pretty photo of the family taking a walk down my street with the fall colors behind them.

Favorite photo of Lia is the close-up with the crocheted hat…or maybe the one of her cuddled in tight laying in her mama’s arms. Good luck on getting the 11 x 14~

I love this family so much! Beautiful photos of everyone! Ben is such a stud and quite a model in the making. The one of Lia laying on her belly is so cute! LOVE!

I love the picture with Ben and Lia’s feet! I don’t know why that one gets me. Maybe it’s the proud auntie in me but I think that is such a precious and beautiful shot!

I love the one of Lia on her belly (where you can see her tiny little rear ) as well as the one of Melissa holding Lia looking down at her. Also, I love the one of the four of them walking down the street. Great pictures!!!
